As of October♀️

I tell myself, I will begin,

but pages wait, untouched, within.

Words keep knocking, soft and near,

yet I leave them, year to year.

Dreams have lingered, ink undone,

chased by shadows, stalled, not run.

I ask myself the reason why,

but silence answers, drifting by.

Now October calls my name,

a quiet fire, a gentle flame.

No more waiting, no disguise,

I will rise where courage lies.

Every thought will find its place,

every doubt I will replace.

Action blooms where fear has been

October is the time to begin

It Is What It Is

Do not stay buried in yesterday’s pain,
The past is a shadow, not a chain.
People change, as seasons do,
What they once held, they release too.

Love that fades in a fleeting week,
Was never the depth your soul should seek.
Cry if you must, let the tears fall,
But lift your heart, God hears it all.

Do not blame yourself, do not despair,
He knows your wounds, He answers prayer.
Ahead lies hope, a brighter day,
Do not let sorrow make you stay.

Step forward bold, with faith as guide,
New doors will open, arms stretched wide.
For life is a river, it flows, it moves,
And every loss makes room for new truths.

So walk in peace, your spirit free,
The best is not behind, but yet to be.

Not Enough

They all seem so kind in the beginning,

Flashes of warmth, laughter, and light.

They show compassion, so easy and fleeting,

But invite them close, and the spark takes flight.

The effort fades, the colors dull,

Replaced by shadows, soft and gray.

A smile and laugh are never enough

To keep the depth from slipping away.

So now I breathe, I meditate,

And ask the One who dwells above

To send a soul, sincere and true,

A heart that’s bound in lasting love.

But it's not enough to make me quit,

There’s strength in faith, my spirit lit.

The days we had

The days we had,
here, we're going back.
Here, we're moving forward,
forever we move.

Forever, we uphold gratitude—
thanks to Mastercard, facilitators, and parents.

Your support, a light through our journey,
a beacon guiding us in our pursuit of dreams.

You all decided to make a journey,
you landed on an island.

Finally arrived at a narrow gate,
staring at each other's faces,
finding your rooms, looking around the environment.

Nature made you realize exploring can be a new thing,
survival in a hot season,
a cyclone changing weather,
the first hitch covered.

Looking for people you can bond with,
getting to your room, waiting, or meeting your roommate.
Since nothing matters, people are from diverse places.

I know it's not been easy,
school and work-life balance,
making sure to meet the deadline,
hitting the bars and clubs,
overwhelming and exhilarating.

Most of you have explored your capabilities,
some of you also found your passion here,
and it all adds up to your superpower.
Missions, not majors, they say,
you all were capable of doing it,
because you uphold resilience,
continue learning integrity, ownership.

The night beach, mosaic, ricados, and boat cruise are all over,
but they are not over.
Netflix parties, virtual game nights, and theme parties on Zoom still go on.

Friendships end physical,
friendships hold on forever,
memories you shared,
memories you created will forever be with you.

Today, you are all sitting here,
like you were never a sophomore or freshman.
Your parents and guardians,
are proud they brought to earth, not babies,
but leaders, not just any leaders but African leaders,
who are changing the world with unique theories.

You own the world,
the world doesn't own you.

Move at your pace,
show gratitude to the hardworking soul.
The world won't embrace you if you don't embrace yourself.
People won't only see or give you the reward or accolades for your little efforts,
but you only can show and give a reward to that little soul.

In adieu 2024, bid farewell,
an ode to a journey,
a testament to growth.

Weigh our journey in a fateful glance.

Sometimes we tire, in life's relentless race,

Questioning purpose, in our earthly space.

Each day a struggle, in this vast expanse

We look to those who've scaled success's peak,

Then to souls still searching, seemingly meek.

Life's irony, in this strange, twisted plot,

Do we earn our fate, or is it God's thought?

We pour our hearts for those we think will care,

Yet find, in solitude, that none are there.

But in this void, a whisper, soft and clear,

A presence felt, divinely near.

There is a God, in whispers He converses,

Aligns my thoughts when life disperses.

In Him, I find a strength that's ever steady,

A guiding hand, when I am unready.

He speaks in silence, in the rustling leaves,

In every dawn, and in the evening's eaves.

He tells me, in my query and my weary,

"I am here, in your journey, ever cheery."

For in His grace, I find a steady light,

A beacon through the darkest, longest night.

He shows me hope, in times of deep despair,

A reminder, in my heart, He's always there.

So in this world, where certainty may fade,

Where dreams are chased, and sometimes we're afraid,

I cling to faith, that sacred, unseen thread,

In God's embrace, my weary soul is led.

Through life's complex, unpredictable game,

With Him, I know, I'm never quite the same.

In every step, in every broken stride,

He walks with me, forever by my side.

365 Days of Grace

365 days, a canvas wide and vast,

In its embrace, precious moments cast.

A journey through time, a dance, a song,

Reflecting on all that's come and gone.

In God's gentle hands, I found my way,

Through the hurdles of each night and day.

Dissertation trials, a mountain steep,

In academia's waters, oh so deep.

Accommodations sought, a roof, a shelter,

In life's stormy seas, a calming helter.

Internship quests, paths unknown,

God's guiding light brilliantly shown.

Bills piling high, like autumn leaves,

Met with divine ease, as faith interweaves.

Supportive friends, a lover's embrace,

In their warmth, I found my place.

Education, a journey, not just a goal,

Enriched by activities that fed my soul.

Extracurricular paths, broad and new,

Adding colors to the academic hue.

Then home, a haven, where hearts reside,

Back to family, with arms open wide.

Ending the year with loved ones near,

Grateful whispers, the universe hears.

365 days, a story told,

A blend of warmth, adventures bold.

In each moment, grace was found,

In life’s symphony, a perfect sound.

For every challenge, every test,

I've emerged stronger, feeling blessed.

365 days of growth and grace,

In God's love, I've found my place.

Solitude.

In the stillness of walls, I find my voice,

Joyful and talkative, in solitude's embrace,

No one to share my thoughts, no one to hear,

Loneliness lingers, a bittersweet trace.

Is it abandonment, or a path I chose?

No love or a shoulder to lean upon,

Yet life unfolds, and change befalls,

For the better, I'll carry on.

The one I served knows what's best,

Guiding me through each winding quest,

But amidst this journey, I yearn to find,

Someone to hang out with, hearts aligned.

Through laughter and tears, we'd walk together,

Building memories, come rain or fair weather,

In the warmth of companionship's glow,

My soul would dance, my spirit would grow.

So I'll cherish the solitude, but seek a friend,

To share life's beauty, its twists and bends,

In this tapestry of fate, a soul to be found,

A kindred spirit, to journey unbound.
