The days we had,
here, we're going back.
Here, we're moving forward,
forever we move.
Forever, we uphold gratitude—
thanks to Mastercard, facilitators, and parents.
Your support, a light through our journey,
a beacon guiding us in our pursuit of dreams.
You all decided to make a journey,
you landed on an island.
Finally arrived at a narrow gate,
staring at each other's faces,
finding your rooms, looking around the environment.
Nature made you realize exploring can be a new thing,
survival in a hot season,
a cyclone changing weather,
the first hitch covered.
Looking for people you can bond with,
getting to your room, waiting, or meeting your roommate.
Since nothing matters, people are from diverse places.
I know it's not been easy,
school and work-life balance,
making sure to meet the deadline,
hitting the bars and clubs,
overwhelming and exhilarating.
Most of you have explored your capabilities,
some of you also found your passion here,
and it all adds up to your superpower.
Missions, not majors, they say,
you all were capable of doing it,
because you uphold resilience,
continue learning integrity, ownership.
The night beach, mosaic, ricados, and boat cruise are all over,
but they are not over.
Netflix parties, virtual game nights, and theme parties on Zoom still go on.
Friendships end physical,
friendships hold on forever,
memories you shared,
memories you created will forever be with you.
Today, you are all sitting here,
like you were never a sophomore or freshman.
Your parents and guardians,
are proud they brought to earth, not babies,
but leaders, not just any leaders but African leaders,
who are changing the world with unique theories.
You own the world,
the world doesn't own you.
Move at your pace,
show gratitude to the hardworking soul.
The world won't embrace you if you don't embrace yourself.
People won't only see or give you the reward or accolades for your little efforts,
but you only can show and give a reward to that little soul.
In adieu 2024, bid farewell,
an ode to a journey,
a testament to growth.
